The Rose Gold Stethoscope by MDF Instruments is rapidly becoming iconic. I received many messages asking me how I found the quality and the sound with this stethoscope. So I decided to do a review before the upcoming school year starts. And before some of you need to buy this tool.
First of all, MDF makes the rose gold stethoscope in few different model. The one I will be reviewing is the one I own: the MD One Stainless Steel Dual Head.
From the moment you open the box you can admire the rose gold chest piece and headset. The rose gold shines like a mirror. The pictures all over Instagram are beautiful, but it doesn’t do justice. The white tube is crisp white. This is something that I can’t judge yet because it will take time wearing it. I am a little concern with the white turning yellowish, but I guess we will have to see how that goes. Let’s put aside the beauty of this instrument, I know it’s hard to do, but I don’t think I need to review much longer how unique and beautiful this piece looks!
This stethoscope has a few features that I appreciate. Have you ever placed your stethoscope on a patient just to find yourself hearing nothing? For a second you are asking yourself what the heck is going on and then you realize that maybe that side you are trying to listen with is “off.” The chest pieces stem of the MD One Stainless Steel Dual Head features a green dot indicator which allows you to know which side of the chest piece is “on.” You’ll never have to look confused or guess which sound channel is on or “tap” again!
Have you ever felt too close to your patients while you were listening to their heart? The tubing of this stethoscope has a longer-than-average length allowing a bigger space between you and your patients. You will not have to hold your breath when you auscult their heart anymore! This characteristic makes it also really comfortable to wear it all day because it doesn’t try to swing off your shoulder all the time.
In its lifetime, your stethoscope will be handled thousand of time and most probably banged hundreds of other occasions. So you need something robust and durable. The most interesting properties of stainless steel are its durability and resistance to corrosion, and this stethoscope is made of stainless still.
Most important I find the quality and clarity of the sound to be excellent.
What comes in the box with the stethoscope? 2 extra sets of ear tips, spare ultrasensitive diaphragm, and an ID tag. MDF Instruments also provides a lifetime time warranty and free parts for life.
My overall thoughts
- the unique style
- the length of the tube
- the green dot indicator
- the weight
- The white tube might get stained/dirty
- You cannot get the rose gold engraved
If you are looking for a durable, stylish and one of a kind features stethoscope, in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with the Rose Gold Stethoscope.
